5:23:08 official time for the 2009 Boston Marathon

I did it! I ran, I survived, and I made it to the end!
I've updated my blog page, and I have pictures to share as well...

(There's a bunch, so you'll have to look a little to find me, but there are some good ones on the last pages of the Recovery Zone, and on the Finish Line link)

When I signed up to run the Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber in 2008, I thought it would be a one time deal.  I wasn’t going to turn into one of those crazy runners who runs marathons year round – I didn’t, that’s for sure.  But I did fall into an amazing experience, one filled with more friends, more memories, more accomplishments then I could have imagined.

Running on the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Team and completing my first marathon, the Boston Marathon no less, was an unbelievable experience and one that I want to relive again.  I’m happy to say, I’ve officially been accepted to the 2009 Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Team – so the blog is back!

I know I had many people, family, friends, even strangers, reading my updates, so thank you all for following my journey.

As you all know, last year I met Paisley, she was, and will be again, my Patient Partner.  But I’m so lucky, because Paisley is so much more to me then just that – she is now family.  I have a relationship with Paisley, and her parents, and her grandparents, that is more then I ever could have hoped for.  They are my family  - as I am there’s.  I’ve seen them several times over the summer – for Paisley’s birthday, just for visits.  And every time our bond grows deeper.

Paisley is doing well.  She has just about a year left of her treatments, and she continues to get chemo on a weekly basis.  But she is now in first grade – where rumor has it, the boys fight over who gets to carry her bag! Her hair is growing, and she lost her first tooth! She’s a determined little firecracker who gives me, and everyone she interacts with, an example to live by.

And so it begins… the training, the running, the stories, the friends, for a second year in a row.  It’s going to be like starting from scratch for me – I didn’t run much this summer – but that’s ok with me.  Slow and steady…

Thank you for checking my site, and stay tuned for more pictures, updates, and blog postings on the "Adventure Continues" page! And if you'd like to send me an email - whether it's just to say hi, or to share a story about how cancer has touched you, I'd be honored to hear from you! sarah.neukom@gmail.com

Much love,

Sarah
